Lacey & Evelyn were my first people to come to the workshop and play. They drove down from Cle Elum, Wa, a 4-5 hr drive. They stayed in Longview, Wa. for the weekend, and came up on Saturday and Sunday. As Lacey got out of the car, she stated that my house is off the map 😂. Google stops half way up the driveway, just keep going. 😉 The day was decent, as far as PNW weather goes. We unloaded her boxes of rocks that she brought. The boxes were full of b beautiful Botswana banded agates, Lacey's favorite, and an assortment of slabs that she had bought, triple mahogany obsidian, banded agates, tigers eye, and much more. Evelyn, 11yrs , was happy to see that there were cats to love on, a 2 yr old male tomcat, Brewster, and his sister, all black , Twisted. (Momma). Lacey started the show with a chunk of Botswana agate to slab up. *At this time the shaft on the machine was worn and it was extremely loud. It has been fixed and the noise is almost non-existent. We continued non the less, I was excited having people to share my passion. Evelyn picked out a few small pieces to form into cabs while Lacey slabbed away. It was a great day! I do enjoy teaching and learning at the same time. The energy that fills my cup, helping others discover what they have and the beauty the rocks hold, is overwhelming sometimes, but a great feeling. On Sunday, we started on some of the forms that Evelyn dobbed up. ( A hard wax that you attach to the rock on a dob stick, to get better movement on the grinder, without grinding your fingernails off.) Evelyn managed to get a mahogany, heart shaped cab formed and sanded* didn't have time to polish. The time flew by and they had a long drive ahead of them.
